Instagram Action Blocks: what causes and how to avoid them
Sometimes, users encounter the problem of Action Blocks (with or without automation). This article will give you more information on Action blocks: what triggers them and how to avoid them.
What is an Action block?
An action block will prevent you from doing specific actions on your account for an amount of time. For instance, it can stop you from liking posts for 24h or following users for 48h. During this period of time, you'll still be able to use the app to browse and do unrestricted actions.
When an action block occurs, your Suparise bot will wait between 24h and 72h before trying automation again.
What triggers an Action Blocks?
Action blocks are usually caused by an exceeded quota (hourly, daily, ...). Once a maximum number of actions is exceeded, you get action blocked by Instagram.
Each Instagram account has its own quota (and "score") which is a hidden information only known by Instagram. This quota depends on various criterias such as:
- account age
- account stats (number of posts, followers & following)
- bio description & link
- activity history (spammish comment patterns, fake followers, past automation)
- use of hashtags (type, quantity, banned hashtags)
- quality of interaction with other users (DMs & commenting)
- ad buyer and amount of money spent on ads
- phone verified
- business or personal account
- previous violations of Instagram rules
- account used on multiple IPs and devices
- amount of accounts used on one IP
- the type of IP (4G, 5G, Proxy, Residential IP, ..)
- use of third-party tools (bots, scheduler, monitoring, ..)
- ...
How to avoid action blocks
1. Wait for your account to be aged enough
Your account should be at least 3 months old and used regularly on mobile or desktop. During the first few weeks after an account was created, the activity limits are very low and using a bot can result in quickly getting action blocks.
We recommend that you grow your account naturally first. Spend time browsing, liking, viewing stories, etc.. Reach more than 15 posts, 200 following and 100 followers.
2. Be active on Instagram
You need to be active regularly on Instagram. If the only activity you have on your Instagram account is automated likes & follows, your account will be considered suspicious after a few weeks/months.
You need to compensate this automation activity with natural activity: browse, upload photos/videos/stories and interact with other users in a good way (don't just comment "Wow" on a bunch of posts, you need to write specific comments and engage conversations).
Act like a normal human being.
3. Don't be too active on Instagram
Being inactive is one thing, being too active is another. If you post & comment too much, Instagram might consider your activity as spam. Don't post more than once or twice a day. Don't post the same thing and same hashtags over and over again. Don't post the same comments over and over again.
4. Have a varied automated activity
We recommend that you enable Auto-Like, Auto-Follow and Auto-Unfollow. If you focus on only one type of action, this might become suspicious.
5. You log in with multiple IP addresses and/or devices
Try to stick with maximum 2 IPs and maximum 2 devices.
6. Reinstall your Instagram app
If you experience action blocks and can't get rid of them: delete your Instagram app and reinstall it.
7. Report the action block
Go to Settings, Help and Report a Problem. In the text field, write that you've been action blocked even though you've done nothing wrong (even if you've actually done something wrong).
8. Link your Instagram to your Facebook
Switch to Business or Creator account, and link your Instagram to your Facebook page.
9. Link your phone number to your Instagram account
In your profile, add your phone number and verify it.
If none of the above helps: wait it out
If all of the above doesn't help you get rid of action blocks, you'll need to wait and stop using Instagram or any third-party tools for 24h-48h.
After that, slowly use your Instagram manually, and gradually increase the amount of activity.
